Its teachers day on the 5th of September in India and my son Aryan needed a speech for the day, who and what else would i have relied on to help come to aid, except for the internet! I dont have patience to write out a speech myself and i know i would never be able to do justice to the write, and when you have the world and its knowledge on your fingers through the internet, where else should one turn to?

Its a speech for young kids, and i know a lot of parents must be searching for the same for their kids who will be celebrating the day at school with their loving teachers who have been putting great efforts into their students....

Teachers Day Speech-

Teachers Day is a dedication to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and was one of the most well known diplomat, scholar, president of India and above all a teacher. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday has been observed as teachers' day and this led to its origin. A day that is dedicated to the hard work that is input by the teacher all year long, a day that is a complete tribute to the teachers all around India. In India teacher day is celebrated on 5th of September.

In this hot summer we should only wear on cotton and other natural fabric clothing, as it is necessary to combat the strong heat, especially for kids. If you are looking for sleep wear for a kid to ensure his comfort during the nights, do check out childrens cotton pyjamas, and make sure his sleep wear is loose and comfortable enough to allow the child to be able to breathe properly while he sleeps.

Sometimes i wander over how troublesome i must have been as a child! And my thoughts do wonder over the millions of young girls and boys and how tough parenting is without any support from schools that are just founded for the education of a child. It's a worrisome prolonged period to nurture your child into a successful adult all by yourself esp. if the child is a struggling adolescent. But no more, do you have to struggle to cope with the nurturing of your child yourself.

I came across this suggestible residential treatment program for parents to turn to in the case of troubled teens, if you have one. Shelterwood is a co-ed boarding school for troubled teens. It is a different but licensed boarding school designed to mentor kids with the right love, care, and right therapeutic environment to help them accomplish a bright and successful future. They are uniquely equipped to treat struggling adolescents showing signs of low self-esteems and depression, addictions such as drugs or alcohol, anger or family conflict. They stand apart from other boarding schools because they strive not only to treat the child therapeutically, educationally and spiritually, but the whole family as well by getting to the root of issues, through a multifaceted approach. So, if you are considering Shelterwood out of all boarding schools for troubled girls and boys? Here is a summary info.

Shelterwood was founded in 1980, located in Missouri and they provide high quality facilities like individual, group, and family therapy along with an accredited school for at-risk youth for troubled teens with the help of their residential treatment program designed to help the kids overcome challenges they face in daily lives. They are equipped with an on-site private program so teens receive topnotch accredited education while at shelter wood. You can find out more by contacting them directly or through the application process online!

While being parents, have you watched how your kid tries to pick their food off the floor and pop it into their mouth innocently?

I guess as parents we do teach our kids not to pick food off the floor and eat it because as we all know that bacteria gets attached to food making it harmful for us to consume but sometimes parents might think that if we pick up the food as quick as possible, say in an instant of five seconds, it might have less changes of getting contaminated with bacteria. That's not right and not a good idea at all and the best choice would be to throw away foods slipped out of ones grasp no matter how tantalizing it can be!

Foods can get contaminated with bacteria as soon as it hits the floor(especially if the conditions are right) This is because no matter how clean your surface looks it might still have bacteria. Though floors that look dirty will very obviously be likely to grow bacteria but even floors that are cleaned well can house bacteria that can survive for a long time.

Foods that have wet surfaces like cut fruits etc.. can attach more bacteria and the longer the food remains of the floor, the more bacteria will accumulate on the food. Remember while some bacteria are not harmful but some are likely to cause diarrhea and some can make you more sicker. One will never be able to determine the germs on the floor without a powerful microscope so its advisable to banish your dropped delicious butter cookie as i guess you wouldn't want to get your child ill, not even at the cost of a 3 or 5 second rule, right?

Teach your kids to play safe from his/her earliest possible age :-)

***************************************************************
Hey mom, dont shoot me!

I'm sleepy, naughty mom!

*****************************************************************

Born on Oct, 2006 this little girl above is my daughter Alisha and will soon be 3 years, coming Oct! I last wrote about her when she was 26 and you can find out about her here on the Baby Alisha category. I should be writing her monthly updates ;)

Language- learnt to talk like a parrot, says "go to sleep, don't say" nodding her head left to right, when i tell her to close her eyes and sleep and she doesn't want to! ha-ha... i guess by the time she's three years old, she'll be able to frame the sentences well.

Pretend play- She does the pretend play very well and bathes me, pats on powder, make-up with a pen, clothes. And of course when am turned my back away, shes taken out my make up and dressing herself. She takes my handbag and walks to the door saying "bye, i going house"... now whose house is she in then? :-)

She cooks my face, hands and legs! he he... yeah she first watches it, then adds the masalas, burns the oil and fries me!! And then eats me too... offering me, my own self to eat!! So i call it a new dish named "Nisha Fry"... am rolling on the floor with laughter right now.. hahaha

Shes loves going for outings and strolls with her dad, and counts the cats, dogs, crows, vehicles and knows the difference between one and many. One means 1, but many means 2... her innocence is lovable and adorable just her :)

Emotions- Gets upset over things and screams over us if we talk harshly to one another, i guess she understands those quarrels and when i spank her brother, she goes to the brother and cajoles him saying "don't beat, bobby nice na?" and then says " mommy, naughty girl".. hahaha... that's because i always call her that when shes up to tantrums. Bobby is my son, Aryans, nickname :-)

Food- Her fave new items for snacks apart from food are chicken Maggi, halwa, jelebi, puris, parathas, fried potatos, peanuts, soyabean(nutrela), finger chips, pizzas and other non-veg snack items :)

Television- Her fave new cartoons apart from tom and jerry, ben ten are haugemaru, courageous-the brave dog, johny bravo, eddy, power puff girls, miffy and friends, and some more... and shes also loves balika vadhu and uttaran on colors!!

Shes a very loving, caring, careful, understanding and alert child. One who will never attempt the things i warn her for, like leaning over the balcony, touching plug holes etc... yet am more alert than her, because at this age, the mind isn't that focused and she may sometimes forget my warnings... And you can’t trust a two year old especially for how inquisitive and curious they can get :-)

Come back here to give baby (i call her Baby, it’s her nickname)... all your love and blessings and wish your kids love and blessings too :-)

Advice for moms of 2 year olds:
If your kids just learnt two word sentences, she'll gradually learn to speak three, four, five and many words added to the sentences by the time shes 3.

My 13 years old younger sister Amanda is an extremely avid fan of the celebrity, Miley Cyprus. I'm sure everybody knows her? She is well known amongst the kids wide world and she is none other than, Hannah Montana the teen that stars on the kids channel nickelodeon on television. When my sister had come home for the Christmas vacations, i couldn't believe her transformation from a little girl into a lady. Deeply influenced by the television star, she was singing and praising the star throughout her holidays. When we four siblings(Amanda, younger brother, elder sis and myself) got together to spend time talking and having fun, there were precious moments i will never forget when my elder sister recorded a 10 minute video while my younger sister sang and danced away in glee. She also used a mike which comes with a mini piano keyboard set and my younger brother handled the music on the keyboard impressively. I wish i could show it to all of you but the video is quite huge in size and can't be uploaded here!! We had so much of fun that day and since that day, my kids and myself have turned into Nickelodeon addicts too! Amanda had even recorded messages like "As soon as I step on that stage, nothing matters. I don't think of it as work. It's just so much fun"... those were the messages she tried to imitate and a lot more. So sweet of her, we still listen to the messages while she's away at school.

Here is the best widget where everyone including myself will be able to vote for my sisters favorite television star, which is for the Kids' Choice Awards. The other favorite teen actor of mine is the star Harry Potter but i'll prefer voting for the aspiring young Miley Cyrus(Hannah Montana), who is my sisters idol. You can also vote for different categories like your favorite cartoon, female athlete, realty show, singer, video games, animated etc.. Just vote and help other fans to vote by installing the widget on your social networking sites. This is a good way for our kids to vote for their favorite star.

The widget is marketed by Yovia, which is a vibrant community of more than 159,000 people around the globe and growing every minute. This voting system is based on peoples own choices and the best kid will surely win.

How does one react to a scorpion sting? Its way to difficult to think of one, isn't it? imagine how two sisters who turned moms, faced these dangers with bravery and not only that, their fear led them to invent a new product called scorpion safe that has been proven to stop scorpions!

Flooded with stories of deadly crawlers in their friends homes, they grew up and married in the the desert southwest itself, but always surrounded with some of the most dangerous creatures.

Time came when one of the sisters found a deadly scorpion crawling up her 6 month old sons crib, and ready to sting him. This creature, a bark scorpion which found in the area has the strongest venom out of many species, and their sting hurts like anything, sometimes even causing complications. The victim can froth from the mouth, numbing sensation, muscle twitching, convulsions and can also have breathing difficulty.

These sisters were determined to put a stop to the dangers could prove fatal to their kids, and set out to research on scorpions. The found that the only material the scorpions couldn't crawl was glass and that was how scorpion safe, a unique baby invention was launched.

The triple thick glass reinforced bottoms ensure support for heavy furniture, while the no slide pads inside the shield secure the furniture legs in place. view the new product in the picture above, just go for it and buy scorpion prevention material if you live in a dangerous zone yourself:).. Being a mother to 17 month, pretty baby Alisha, was always so enjoyable.I dont remember a terrifying moment before, but just a few days a ago, baby was down with fever since the morning.Later in the evening due to a high temperature rise, she suffered a fever convulsion.. I did not know what to do then because i hadn't seen anything like that in my entire life.. And to see it happening to my baby, almost killed me.She was rushed her to hospital but till then the convulsion ceased and the doctor said everything was fine, so not to worry.I know you're curious to know what happened.. so read below, please...

Alisha was playing on my lap when all of a sudden i felt her muscles pull and her head began to drop, she was like shaking and jerking uncontrollably. Then i saw her eyes turn up too.She wasn't even breathing properly.. Oh my god! I was trembling all the while, i couldn't see her in that state.. Those moments were very disturbing and i will have to care for her even much more to ensure she doesn't develop a high temperature in the future since the convulsion occurred due to the rise of high temperature and is quite a common thing in toddlers aged 6 months to kids aged 6 years.During this period we parents have to be on high alert for the slightest symptoms of fever, to prevent its recurring to a child who had it before.

I wish no parent should experience anything like this ever.. Its not an uncommon thing and theres no risk as such to the child but when you see your child suffering something, like a fit.. It feels so devastating and horrifying!! Now baby is doing quite fine and under medications and sooon she will be fit and fine.

This post was mainly to create awareness and provide information to parents around the world.. i hope i could do my part on this:)

Time for tips and advice..
Some very important notes i would like to put here for parents who dont have an idea about what is a convulsion, its symptoms and how to prevent it from happening to your baby.

WHAT IS A CONVULSION?
Its a kind of fit or seizure which happens without warning mostly due to a temperature rise. But a number of cases are due to digestive disturbances, by over-feeding.Many cases result from the suppression of skin eruptions. If someone in your family has already been through it, then history could repeat itself.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
Read the whole of the above to know my experience with it.The child will become unconscious or unaware of their surroundings. There will be movements in their arms in a twitching manner.Their eyes may roll back and have difficulty breathing. The child will fall, if standing, and may pass urine.May vomit and may bite his tongue. The child may not be breathing, and may begin to turn blue.

WHAT TO DO WHEN IT OCCURS?
Firstly try your best not to panic and stay with your child, as the child needs your whole attention now.Note of how long the convulsion lasts.Dont put anything in its mouth or try to stop the convulsion by pressing the baby.Place them on their side with a rolled towel behind them for support.Loosen tight clothing especially from around the neck. Now focus your attention on bringing the fever down by applying cool washcloths to the forehead and neck and sponge the rest of the body with lukewarm(not cold) water. After one to three minutes the child will begin breathing normally again.Seek medical attention at its earliest, please dont take for granted.

I would love to read your comments, so please feel free to share anything that comes to your mind after you read this post..

This is a simple paper craft made from a child's hand print, paint or markers, and construction paper.it makes a great gift for a birthday or Mother's Day and mommy needs nothing but her kids to love, in this world.. for whatever she possesses comes from her kids.. ask me?

daddies... this is to be under your guidance, for if you want to see mommy dear happy.. you got to get your kid do something for that special day, in her life!

remember, mothers day can be a celebration thought the year! show your love and care every day! come back for more crafts and kids info..

Supplies needed: A piece of light-colored construction paper (white, pale blue, pale yellow, or other colors) - for the background
One piece of skin-colored construction paper - for the hand
Scissors
Glue
Crayons, markers or paint and brushes
Optional: colorful construction paper for the flowers (or flowers can be drawn with markers)

Trace the child's hand on a piece of skin-colored paper. Cut along the lines.

On a new piece of paper, glue the palm of the hand to the lower left part of the paper -- DO NOT glue the fingers down.

Using green tempera paint, a crayon, or marker, draw the stems of the flowers. Start each stem on the hand, and have it go towards the center of the paper (make sure to leave room for the flowers).

Roll the fingers of the paper hand over the palm and the stems of the flowers, and glue the fingertips onto the palm (this will make the hand look as though it is holding the bouquet of flowers).
If you like, have the hand show the American Sign Language sign for "I love you," which has the only the ring finger and the middle finger folded and glued down

Draw flowers and leaves on the stems -- or glue on flowers made from colorful construction paper.
You now have a bouquet that is great for a birthday or Mother's Day.

You're at the high school baseball game with your friends, and you see your big brother's friend Justin in the dugout drinking from a water bottle. With every sip he takes, a big bump moves up and down on the front of his neck.

The boys your age don't have bumps like that, you think to yourself. And come to think of it, neither do any of the girls you know, no matter how old they are. What's going on here?

When kids hit puberty, their bodies and minds go through tons of changes. One change that every kid can count on is lots of body parts growing and changing shape. Almost every part gets in on the growing action, including the larynx (say: lar-inks).

Another name for the larynx is the voice box, and it's in the throat. The larynx is what gives you your voice, whether you're talking, laughing, whispering, singing, or screaming! You can find your larynx by touching the front of your throat and humming. When you feel vibrations under your fingers, you've found it!

When the larynx grows larger during puberty, it sticks out at the front of the throat. This is what's called an Adam's apple. Everyone's larynx grows during puberty, but a girl's larynx doesn't grow as much as a boy's does. That's why boys have Adam's apples. Most girls don't have Adam's apples, but some do. It's no big deal either way.

But why is it called an Adam's apple? If you think it's called that after the story of the Garden of Eden where Adam ate a piece of the forbidden fruit that got stuck in his throat, you're right. An Adam's apple sometimes looks like a small, rounded apple just under the skin in the front of the throat.

This larger larynx also gives boys deeper voices. Actually, girls' voices get a little bit deeper as their larynxes get larger, too. But because boys' larynxes grow so much more, it makes their voices deeper than girls' voices.

The larynx doesn't grow to its new size overnight, though. If you've ever heard a teenage boy's voice sound squeaky, you've heard a larynx trying to get adjusted to its new size!

In a forest, on the outskirts of Benaras, there lived a beautiful golden deer. He was called King Banyan Deer and was the leader of a herd of five hundred deer. Not very far off, in the same forest was King Branch Deer who was also the leader amongst another five hundred deer. He was also extremely beautiful with a coat of a shiny golden hue and sparkling eyes.

Outside this beautiful forest, in the real world, there reigned a King who loved to eat meat at every single meal. He was King Brahmadatta of Benaras. Not only was he fond of hunting, but he also enforced the same on his subjects. He forced them to leave their own businesses and join him regularly on his hunting spree each and every morning.

After awhile the villagers got sick of this regular routine as they had much better things to do with their lives. Besides, their work and means of livelihood had also begun to suffer. They realised that they must find a solution. Together they came up with a plan.

They decided to grow plants, sow crops and dig water holes in the royal park itself. Then they would drive a number of deer into the confines of the park and shut the gates. In this way the King could hunt at leisure and would not require any further help from his obedient subjects.

So at first they went about preparing the royal park for the deer. Then they went into the forest armed with weapons and sticks in order to drive the deer into the royal park. They surrounded the territories of both the herds, those of King Banyan Deer as well as King Branch Deer, and drove them into the royal park, with shouts of glee as they beat their sticks on the ground and waved them in the air. As soon as both the herds were in, the gates were shut and the deer entrapped.

They then went to their King and told him that as they could not accompany him any more on his hunts they had successfully managed to entrap a number of deer in the royal park for his royal pleasure. The King was absolutely thrilled when he set eyes on the great number of deer in the royal park.

While gazing at them his eyes fell on the two beautiful golden deer and he at once decided to spare their lives. He issued an order that they were not to be shot at any cost. Each day after that, either the King or one of his hunters would shoot arrows at the deer. The deer would scatter wildly in every direction and get hurt in the ensuing stampede. So one day King Banyan Deer and King Branch Deer put their heads together and came up with a plan. They realised that each day their herds were getting wounded in great numbers and some were getting killed. Even though death was inevitable they could at least try to save the living ones from unnecessary pain and torture.

So they decided to send a deer to the royal palace to be slaughtered and served to the king each and every day. The pact was to alternate between the two herds. In this way at least the rest of the deer would be spared unnecessary torture. This system continued for some time. Each day a deer was sent to the royal palace to be slaughtered by the royal cook. And the rest of the deer were allowed to live in peace until it was their turn.

One day it was the turn of a young female deer with a newborn baby. She belonged to the herd of King Branch Deer. She was worried that after she was killed there would be no one to take care of her child who was still too young to look after itself. So she approached her king with the plea that he send another deer instead of her that day and she would willingly go to the slaughter after her fawn was old enough to look after himself.

But King Branch Deer would not listen to her plea and told her to accept this as her fate as he could not ask another deer to replace her on the execution block. The mother doe looked at her baby and just could not take a step towards the palace. So she approached King Banyan Deer with her plea. King Banyan Deer looked at her with great compassion and told her to go look after her baby, as he would send another in her place.

Then King Banyan Deer himself walked to the palace and placed his head on the execution block. The royal cook was shocked to see him and remembering the King's orders, went running to the King to ask him what was to be done. The King came down to see what was happening. On seeing King Banyan Deer he went up to him and gently asked why he was here. King Banyan Deer related the story of the fawn and the mother doe and told him that as he could not order another to take her place, he had decided to do it himself. The King was highly impressed with this supreme sacrifice and the great love and compassion that this King of deer possessed. So he decided to not only spare his life but that of the mother doe as well.

But King Banyan Deer was not satisfied. He asked that the lives of the other deer be spared as well. So the king granted him his wish. Then he asked about all the other four-footed animals in the forest and then about the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea. And King Brahmadutta agreed to spare the lives of all.

King Banyan Deer thanked him from the bottom of his heart and returned joyfully to the park. The gates were opened wide and both the herds were set free. Needless to say they lived peacefully and happily ever after.
