Happy Wedding Anniversary to me! been married for 12 years now! How shall i describe my journey... well i must say its a lifetime never ending journey but the ride till now was worth the decision i made years ago. It was a treat, though not like the icing on the cake nor the cake itself, but was a real treat! A roller coaster ride!

When you are married its uncertain where life could have you thrown in years but i've spend 12 years in a marriage as beautiful with roses and thorns. There has been endless thorns that could thwart me from moving another step in live but the roses itself were the strength and the motive... when life is a challenge itself.. marriage is just a part of our lives.... :)

My two minute self made wedding poetry!

There were days the tide seemed high..
There were days the tide was low..
There were days when everything seemed bright..
There were days when nothing went right..

One can never say threading a needle is easy and just the way is a married life. Its never easy and there would be lots of highs and lows at every point in life but a person remains strong and keep joining broken thread, that is what makes up a marriage(the lines above describe it so well) :)

We'll celebrating our day with my close family, and i wish us many more years to celebrate... Happy 12th Wedding anniversary to us :)

Last evening i attended the wedding of one of my cousins, and loved being there evey moment to witness the happnings of this beautiful occassion after years. I am so happy for Samual who wed sarah, now his beautiful wife and wish them all the best for their future. Pssst... i've hardly being visiting many of my relatives and family, i guess staying away to suprise them, one day... the surprise would be out soon withen a year so fingers crossed!

Alisha enjoyed a lot there and though she has been to many indian weddings, this was her first time going for a christian wedding which i'm sure she was enjoying and was delighted at all the dancing and games going on there. Indian wedings are very diffrent compared to christian/english weddings and am lucky to have always been a part of both. I was just a little awkward to hit the dance floor wearing traditional indian instead of western (which i hardly wear) and not b'coz i dont know to dance, but do it only at home shying away from doing it (dancing) in public! :)

We all love to flaunt our self-designed accessories at parties and special occasions and, why not, because it also helps us feel good knowing we had created the designs ourselves. Moreover, if someone walked up to you and asked you from where you purchased your beautiful exclusive diamond rings, you would be extremely proud to answer them! Wouldn't you? Now i guess the dilemma in your mind would be where and how to get your own designs on metal. I recommend DiamondGeezer.com where you would be able to live up to a pleasurable and e-commerce experience of getting your ring designed, or you can design it on your own. You may look out for simple diamond rings, engagement rings or wedding rings but you won't have to worry hurrying yourself through the rings meant for both, men and women. You can take your time and explore the modern diamond solitaires. They also cater to services like helping you design your ring in the workshop, personal consultation, or phone support. They also provide you with tools meant for measuring the fit of your ring or what unique design to choose for a certain occasion. You can even zoom, rotate, and examine each platinum, palladium, 18ct yellow gold and white gold ring.

NDTV Imagine`s new reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. The nationwide search for the perfect husband will culminate in a grand wedding where Rakhi will tie the knot.

I can always expect this from the drama queen as she is fondly known as. Every where the lady goes her cheeky and honest mouth is sure to follow, but that's what Rakhi enjoys doing. When i watched her on the big boss show- season (1), i came to know her better as a normal human. Before that she was always known as the item girl, who danced her heart out on item numbers on the big screen, in bollywood. The almost complete insight into a struggling actors life on the small screen got the lady lots of recognition and sympathy from a wide audience around India and others countries.

Now what you see below is reality show and this time the Channal NDTV will help her in the search for her husband which i think is really a great concept to come up with. Rakhi's love story didn't turn out well when her boy friend Abhishek(not the Bachchan) ditched her for his career, when it was her(Rakhi) who had given lifted him to point where he is today. The then struggling(Abhi) actor, owes Rakhi a lot. She was already a well known item girl then.

The incident which was aired life on Tv where Abhi gets slapped by Rakhi on valentines day 2008 was shocking news. He had gone to her apartment with a large teddy almost her size and flowers, to make up after a fight and he chosen the right day. That was shocking news, yet we all accepted in our hearts it must have been another drama or publicity stunt of the drama queen!! Am sure the then madly in love man didn't mind the slap or did he, or was he part of the stunt? But oh, we just got to sit back and watch out for more hot news because the drama queen has lots to entertain us with! with or without Abhi.. hehe.. These stars i tell you!

I would like to wish Rakhi all the best, may she find the right partner and settle down.
I will follow the show and update you all about it. Hope you have a great time viewing her pics :-)

Juliets balcony

Recently came across this piece of news which reported couples can now have themselves married on the balcony of Verona where Juliet called for her lover, Romeo. The move, could make the part of Italy a world famous wedding capital and tourist/weddings packages will be offered just like in La's Vegas. "Its a way of using the city's heritage to boost tourism" claims the councilor for tourism.

Those that wish getting hitched in the very same courtyard where once, Romeo wooed his lover Juliet, will have a price to pay. The privilege wont come cheap, but that's where those in hopes of getting lucky in love will flock to.. Price for Britons and other EU nations is will be charged 800 euros, and couples from out side the Eu will be charged a 1,000 euros! locals can pay as cheap as 6000 euros, still 100 euros less of ordinary marriages certificates in Italy.

Graffiti on Juliets balcony

This balcony is known as standing tall right from the 14th century which was Juliet's home, or possibly used as one of the capulates in Shakespeare's play and had to be closed a year ago to be cleaned of gum and graffiti left by the tourists on its walls.

"Sposami a Verona" Marry Me in Verona- that's what the whole plan to be hit off very soon is called. Accordingly to Shakespeare, the building belonged to the Cappellos- the Capulet's in play, who were believably juliet's family. However, historians claim authenticity to support the theory.

With the arrival of winters... weddings are the most awaited event of the year in India.read more to know why i love being part of Indian weddings, be it a Hindu,Muslim,Bengali or a Christian wedding.Weddings in India are always full of customs and traditions and are celebrated on a grand scale with lot of enjoyment. One of the most remarkable features of weddings in India is that, it not just marks the coming together of two individuals who are getting married but also the coming together of their respective families.Amazing India!

The ceremonies last for days which are held on separate days which are divided into three parts pre wedding ceremony, main day ceremony and post wedding ceremony. Each of the custom has an importance. The pre wedding rituals include the mehandi, sangeet, haldi. The main day function is the wedding day and the post day rituals include bidaai and reception.

PRE-WEDDING CEREMONIES

Ganesh Poojan
Some Hindu ceremonies begin with an invocation to Lord Ganesha, the Hindu god of wisdom and salvation who is depicted as having an elephant's head.By invoking him, he removes any obstacles from the wedding ceremony. The ceremony may then be performed without hindrances. The Ganesh Poojan is performed anywhere from a few days to the night before the wedding.

Mehandi party
The bride hands and feet are painted with henna(mehandi)in a festive occasion thrown by the brides family while her relatives and friends celebrate by dancing and singing away to glory.Mehandi signifies love in a marriage so the bride leaves it on as long as possible. The celebration ends with an enjoyable feast for all those that were present.

peethi
One day before the actual wedding, the bride and groom (in their respective homes) are cleansed with turmeric paste which cleanse the body, soften the skin, and make it aromatic. This daytime ceremony prepares both of them for the nuptials.Uptan, a paste made from sandalwood, turmeric and rose water and is applied by seven married female members of the families, to the faces, hands and feet of the bride and groom. After this ceremony the bride and the groom are barred from stepping outdoors until after the wedding ceremony. During the entire seven days of sangeet, which follows, they must remain indoors and are not allowed to meet each other.

Sangeet Party(Musical Party)
Music is the soul of any wedding ceremony, regardless of faith or origin.Without music & festivity, the wedding lacks sparkle. This ceremony is usually held after the mehendi ceremony and is more of a ladies function, when all the ladies and unmarried girls from both sides congregate to have fun and frolic by dancing and singing traditional wedding songs.

THE WEDDING DAY

It is customary to be conduced under a mandap(canoy) which stands firm by four pillars and decorated with flowers.A priest sits near a fire which is set in a kund(copper bowl)in the midst. The bride, bridegroom and others are to be seated around it.

The bride looks beautifully her best ever, with a red and heavily embroidered sari with gold thread. The bridegroom is donned with a outfit that can be a traditional sherwani(a long tunic embroidered with gold thread)worn with kurta pajamas.

Arrival of the Vara Yatra
As the groom and his party arrive at the ceremony site amidst much singing and dancing, the bride's parents, family and friends greet them with akshat(a kind of rice), tilak (a dot on the forehead), arati (a plate carrying a lighted lamp), and a garland.

Arrival of the bride
The bride is escorted by her uncle or her female cousins and friends and is taken to be seated in the mandap.

Kanyadan(entrusting of the daughter)
The bride's father gives away his daughter to the groom amidst the chanting of sacred mantras in a pious and solemn ritual called kanyadan.

The Wedding Ceremony
The bride and groom are seated in front of a holy fire, or agni, as a priest recites various mantras from the Holy Scriptures. In a ritual called mangalfera, the bride and groom walk around the fire four times (each a symbol of the four ashrams of life), praying and exchanging vows of duty, love, fidelity, and respect.

Saptapadi(seven steps)
The bride and groom take seven steps together around the fire and exchange sacred vows, sealing the marriage forever. The vows validate the marriage, no ceremony is complete without them.

sindoor and mangalsutra
The bridegroom applies sindoor(vermilion)on the parting of the brides hair and around her neck a scared neclace(mangal sutra).it represents the couples togetherness and scared union. It is specifically worn by married women as a symbol of their marriage.

Ashirvad(blessings)
The bride and bridegroom are blessed by the priest and parents and the couple touches the feet of their parents as a sign of respect. The guest bless them individually and settle down to a delicious meal with the newly weds

Bidaai(departure)
The departure of the bride to the bridegrooms home is a very emotional ritual as she leaves with tears to build a new life and home with her husband and his family.she is bid with a tearful farewell.

POST-WEDDING

Mooh Dikhai
The bridegrooms family now indulges in a series of games and post-wedding rituals, amidst much laughter to make the new member feel comfortable. One such ritual is the Mooh dikhai.Literally translated, Mooh Dikhai means 'show your face', but this is a ritual, which helps to introduce the newly wed to members of her husband's family! Each member of the groom's family comes in turn to make an acquaintance with the new bride.

Certain regions and sects have their own variations on the basic Hindu ceremony. Jain, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Kashmiri, and Bengali ceremonies will all have their own unique customs that make Hindu weddings so special.

DONT FORGET TO COME BACK HERE FOR THE MUSLIM WEDDING,BENGALI WEDDING,CHRISTIAN WEDDING and lots more.Leave your comments on why would you love to be part of indian weddings:)
